    • Roll and drag race between the first gen Acura NSX and the new Honda Civic Type R

This is fun to see because it is classic versus new Honda philosophy. On one hand you have the gold standard for Honda/Acura sports cars which is the 1st generation NSX. Tout the technology and figures of the second generation NSX all you want the first gen is the real sports cars and it shows in the sales figures.

The new Honda Civic Type R is turbocharged and very much a boy-racer car. It does have the advantage of forced induction so it will have more torque and get it early in the powerband but it is also front wheel drive. It's also hideous although this does not have a major effect on straightline performance.

Carwow compares the two in straight line which to be honest is lame as these are track cars. Let's see how the Civic does on a circuit against the mid-engine NSX and what a performance bargain it is. Carwow is not a real publication interested in real tests and they just seem to have an airstrip to do their typical crappy comparisons.

On to the drag race. The NSX gets the lead due to traction and holds it through the first couple gears. The Civic comes on strong up top though. The NSX just finishes ahead but this tells us the Civic should be the stronger roll on car.

Which it is. The Civic easily wins because the idiot NSX driver can't figure out he needs to be in the right gear and at high revs as he does not have the benefit of low end torque. That means putting the walkie talkie down and getting ready to shift quickly. Just the same crap as usual although the Civic should be faster from a roll.

The bottom line? Honda can give the Civic as much power as they want to. It will never change the NSX being the better car.

Why are so many performance car comparisons done by people that really dont know anything about racing?
        Interesting to see this tho.
