    • AMS prepares to take the Infiniti Q50/Q60 VR30DDTT platform to the next level with built motor, 1000+ hp capable upgraded transmission, and big snails

AMS is at the forefront of the Infiniti VR30DDTT platform. No doubt it helps that they have a relationship with Infiniti USA. After running consistent 10's and being the first to break into the 10's on the platform AMS plans to take it way further.

They put up a teaser pic showing their '1000 hp capable' transmission from Level 10. You will notice some big snails hanging off the side.

Level 10 has a mixed reputation in the BMW world and their '1000 hp capable' N54 automatic transmissions certainly did not live up to the name.

Speaking with @Michael@alpha BoostAddict learned a few things although he would not confirm or deny a built motor and big turbo build was on the way. Considering the teaser photo and AMS releasing upgraded VR30DDTT internals the other day it's a safe bet that is what they are planning.

It's a shame we won't know what the factory trans can take though:

We use Shep Trans for all of our GTR's because they are experts in that field.

Interestingly enough, we did not have a single problem with the stock transmission with our Q60 making over 500 HP and running 10's. We literally ran 10's ten times in a row. See our blog. The only weak link we have encountered in the drivetrain was the stock driveshaft. We addressed that issue
9-second Q50's and Q60's coming up? We'll certainly find out soon.

I applaud them for the relationship with Infiniti and allowing the cars to be tuned under warranty, thatís obviously ams putting money where their mouth is in regards to the safety of their warrantied tune.

i do hope they are able to work through the transmission concern... with that solved this would be the new tuner platform of choice due to the low cost of entry, and lower cost of repair, relative to European brands.

With the exhaust housing/turbo cast to the block what did they do? Cut them off and weld on Vbands or something? Be interesting to see more pictures.

You would have to ask @Michael@alpha

They arent cast to the block. The turbos are cast with a large square port that bolts to the cylinder head. The cylinder head in essence has the exhaust runners cast into it that merge to a single square port that the turbo bolts to. Apparently they are working with a company to produce a larger turbo with an exhaust housing with this style so that it can bolt to the head.
