    • Power perspective - 800 hp bolt on Nissan GT-R vs. AMS Alpha 16 GTR

      The AMS Alpha packages are well known and AMS obviously is one of the world's best GT-R tuners. The GT-R itself responds very well to tuning from mild to wild and the camera car is a bolt on GT-R. It is said to have something in the 800 horsepower range.


      The Alpha 16 GT-R it goes up against is capable of 1700+ horsepower. It was dialed down to 1200 horsepower or so for the race.

      Let's just say this is a ballpark difference of 400 crank horsepower although it seems like more than that when the Alpha GT-R instantly puts bus lengths on the camera car once it spools.

      Those big turbos do take a while to get going and the bolt on GT-R seems to have hope until it vanishes in a split second.
