    • A look at English Racing's World Record holding 7-second Evo 8 making 1400+ awhp

Holy crap. What do you even say to this? A 7-second Mitsubishi Evo 8 from English Racing that runs 7.72 @ 190.04 in the 1/4 mile. This was not some glory pass either as they ran 7-second passes four times.

What kind of mods does it take to reach that level of performance?

      ER Drag 2.0L Short block
      ER Spec GRP Aluminum Rods
ER 1% Wiseco pistons (10:1 compression)
      GSC S3 Camshafts
      GSC Valve train
      ER Ported Head
      Magnus Dry Sump
      Magnus Intake Manifold
      Aeromotive mechanical fuel pump
      8 FIC 2150cc injectors

      PTE 7685 turbo
ETS 6 Air To Air Intercooler
ETS Forward Facing 42R frame turbo kit
      ETS Titanium Intercooler piping

Bosch 82mm Drive by wire throttle body
MOTEC M150 Ecu with John Reed Racing Evo 8/9 Package.
      MOTEC C127 Dash
      ER 16v Lipo battery setup
      SparkTech Ignition

      PPG Dogbox 1-4
      CAE H Pattern Shifter
      EXEDY carbon triple disc clutch
DriveShaft shop Pro level rear axles
      DriveShaft shop front axles
      PST Carbon DriveShaft

What kind of power does that list produce?

The red dyno sheet shows 1367whp and 900 lb-ft and this was the same boost as the 190 trap runs.

The blue dyno sheet shows 1405whp and 881.98 lb-ft of torque and this is at a couple psi more boost pressure.

They started having trouble keeping traction on the dyno but it is safe to say at 70+ psi of boost they are comfortably making 1400+ horsepower to the wheels.

      Mind blowing? Yes indeed.

1:10 mark is the 7.70 pass. Looks fun.

(not for nothing, but it should be pointed out that John Shepherd was running 7:45 in his Talon back in 2006, which has the same basic drivetrain architecture as an Evo..... nice to finally see the Evo platform catch up to 12yrs ago)
