    • Tuned BMW F90 M5 vs. tuned Nissan GT-R roll race

The Nissan GT-R for some time was used as a tuning and acceleration benchmark and a mildly tuned Nissan GT-R is still a fast car today. The BMW F90 M5 is obviously a brand new super sedan and obviously the main change is the addition of all wheel drive.

In that respect it mimics the GT-R but the M5 has an automatic and not a dual clutch transmission.

The GT-R is said to be a Stage 2 tuned example which implies more than just a tune. The same can be said for the M5 which implies downpipes or an exhaust in addition to the tune.

Impressively, the M5 pulls the GT-R easily. There is no denying tune only M5's are going to be tough to take down from a stop or a roll.

What a decade of minor updates accomplish in comparison to major revisions. For a GTR to be truly competitive nowadays you need upgraded turbos which also means an upgraded transmission since it struggles around the 600lbft level...the apex predator has fallen down the chain.

Took them long enough. The Apex predator is still impressive unfortunately though companies have revamped their line up to overtake this once powerful vehicle. Nissan Needs to head to the drawing board and develop something more powerful.

F90 boosted M5s are running up to 25psi, I like em’.... tuned fbo GTRs run below 20psi, non-Nismo turbos can’t even hold 15psi to redline....

Well that didn't look very dangerous or anything with spectators/cars lined up along a narrow 2-lane road.Click here to enlarge

If true that makes the M5 even more impressive.

At 750hp a GTR traps 140mph, the fastest f10 m5 traps 140mph, the GTR was making less than 650hp....

You're likely right. Without a dyno hp tends to get inflated.

What made the M5 "explode" like that? It was a tight race for a good while.
