    • Honda offers the Civic Type R K20C1 turbo engine as a $6519.87 crate motor

Say whatever you want about the new Civic Type R there are a lot of Honda enthusiasts out there and Type R's new K20C1 turbo powerplant is likely attractive to many of them. With 306 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque out of the box it certainly is the most powerful Civic motor ever offered by Honda.

It is admittedly cool that Honda will offer the engine to be purchased directly as a crate motor for $6519.87.

There will of course be those people who want to turbocharge the motor themselves and build a turbo Honda for a fraction of the cost. There will also be those people who want a warranty and to not deal with the hassle of putting an engine together themselves.

Honda says these are for racing and not street application but no doubt they will find their way into street cars.

Very cool of Honda to offer the motor. Now imagine if some of the German manufacturers offered their turbo motors in crate engine form?

Would be nice to put this in a CRZ or an old CRX.

I always thought the CRZ was interesting but just gutless.
